Wheelgate Guest House, Coniston Lake District

Although we do not serve evening meals at Wheelgate, there is plenty of choice when it comes to eating out.

The Church House Inn in Torver serves excellent food and is just a short walk away (10-15 minutes), or a couple of minutes in the car.

Coniston village boasts several pubs including The Black Bull, The Crown, The Sun and The Ship Inn.

Slightly further afield (about 15-20 minutes by car) is The Blacksmith’s Arms at Broughton Mills.

For a special occasion or just to treat yourself, why not try Beswick’s in Broughton-in-Furness, again just 20-25 minutes by car. Another of our personal favourites for a relaxing evening with excellent service and food is the Jumble Room in Grasmere.

For even more choice, the village of Hawkshead is a short drive away, and Ambleside and Windermere have a vast range of pubs and restaurants.
